This recently completed loft conversion in Hove marks the third loft project we’ve delivered in the road over the past four years. Working closely with our clients, the idea was to create a bright, inspiring space that would serve primarily as an art studio, while also incorporating practical rooms to support both work and everyday living.

During the design stage, we established the most effective balance between maximising usable space and managing construction costs, enabling them to assess the potential added value to the property.

The new loft level is set off a spacious communal landing, providing access to the dedicated art studio, a separate home office, a storage room, and a fully fitted bathroom. Maximising natural light in the art studio was key, so we installed two large Velux on the front sloping roof and one large double glazed window in the dormer.

As part of the second-fix stage, our carpentry team installed a bespoke island workstation within the studio, providing a practical and flexible workspace.

Externally, the new dormer was finished in clay tiles to blend-in with the existing roof, ensuring the extension complemented the character of the property.
