This project just off Dyke Road in Brighton made the most of what was already there: a wonderfully wide bungalow with plenty of untapped potential.

The customer wanted us to transform the generous roof space into practical, comfortable accommodation for the family. We built a full-width rear dormer, creating enough space for two spacious double bedrooms, along with a shower room accessed from the new landing.

To make the loft rooms feel as comfortable and complete as possible, we also installed air conditioning units and built bespoke fitted wardrobes into the bedrooms. The only problem since completion has been the family fighting over who gets to claim the new loft rooms!

The dormer exterior was finished with cement boards rather than traditional tile hanging, giving the rear elevation a clean, contemporary finish that works particularly well with the style of the property.

Inside, the customers wanted to make sure the new staircase and landing didn’t feel enclosed or restrict the flow of natural light. Glass balustrading around the new stairwell keeps the space feeling open and allows light to pass through uninterrupted.

Two new double bedrooms, a shower room, air conditioning, fitted storage and a beautifully finished full-width dormer — another Amazing Space loft conversion built to perfection.
